Malaysia is examining whether it could host a Formula 1 race in 2026 as the sport continues to deal with disruption linked to conflict in the Middle East. According to the report, the Malaysian government is carrying out a feasibility study into staging a late-added grand prix.
The move comes as plans around Formula 1’s schedule remain unsettled. The report indicates that the war involving the US, Israel and Iran affected the championship’s ability to run early-season rounds as intended, forcing officials to look at alternative scenarios.
One of those scenarios had involved a rescheduled Bahrain Grand Prix, but that option now appears to be losing momentum. As a result, attention has shifted toward whether Malaysia could step in if Formula 1 needs another venue to stabilize the 2026 calendar.
At this stage, the idea is still being assessed rather than confirmed. Any decision would depend on whether Malaysia can meet the practical and financial demands of hosting a Formula 1 weekend while the sport works through the wider calendar uncertainty caused by the regional situation.
