A new trailer for Lanterns was unveiled during the show’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, and one of its biggest reveals was the appearance of Sinestro. The latest footage also suggests the series will not stay grounded entirely in its previously established Nebraska small-town setting.

What had been framed as a story centered on new recruit John Stewart and veteran mentor Hal Jordan now appears to be widening in scope. John Stewart is played by Aaron Pierre, while Kyle Chandler plays Hal Jordan, and the new preview points to a story that stretches beyond Earth and further into the wider Green Lantern mythology.

The biggest takeaway from the Comic-Con footage is that space will play a more visible role than some earlier material suggested. That shift gives the series a larger canvas while still building on the partnership between Stewart and Jordan, which has been a key part of how the project has been introduced so far.

With Sinestro now entering the picture, Lanterns looks poised to connect its small-town mystery elements with a more cosmic side of the DC universe. Based on the trailer shown at Comic-Con, the series appears to be balancing character-driven setup in Nebraska with the larger interstellar stakes fans expect from a Green Lantern story.
