India had mixed results in Commonwealth Games swimming, with para-swimmer Karthik Budigina delivering one of the stronger performances for the country. Budigina placed fourth in the men’s 100m freestyle S13 final, ending just outside the medals in a closely watched race.
His finish was still a notable effort, as he stayed in contention and came close to reaching the podium. The result underlined Budigina’s competitiveness in the para-swimming field and gave India a solid showing in the event.
In the able-bodied competition, Olympian Srihari Nataraj was unable to progress to the men’s 50m backstroke final. His swim was not enough to earn a place in the medal race, bringing his campaign in that event to an early end.
Taken together, the session reflected both promise and disappointment for the Indian contingent. Budigina came close to a medal with a fourth-place finish, while Nataraj fell short of the final in one of his key events.
