Nvidia, Microsoft and 23 other companies have joined a coalition pressing US policymakers to defend open-weight AI models. The group, which also includes Meta, is urging Washington to preserve room for open AI development as policy debates around the technology intensify.

The campaign also gained attention because Nvidia chief Jensen Huang used his first-ever post on X to argue for keeping AI open. That public message added visibility to the industry push and underscored how important the open-model debate has become for companies building around AI tools and infrastructure.
