Etihad Airways has confirmed plans to return to the Nigerian market, marking a fresh step in the country’s push for stronger international air links. The airline’s comeback was highlighted during a visit by representatives of the Abu Dhabi-based carrier to Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo.
According to the announcement, Etihad is expected to resume flights to Lagos by March 2027. The planned return would reconnect Nigeria’s commercial hub with one of the Gulf’s major aviation centers, potentially expanding travel options for passengers and businesses.
The development also fits into the Nigerian government’s broader effort to improve global connectivity through aviation. Keyamo has been associated with moves aimed at attracting more international carriers and strengthening the country’s position in global travel networks.
Etihad’s re-entry could add momentum to that strategy by increasing links between Nigeria and key long-haul markets served through Abu Dhabi.
