Retail space leasing in Delhi-NCR rose sharply in the first half of the year, with total absorption reaching 1.3 million square feet between January and June, according to property consultant C&W. The increase marked a 78 percent jump from the year-earlier period, highlighting stronger expansion activity across shopping malls and high streets in the region.
Fashion retailers were the biggest drivers of this growth, taking the lead in new space absorption as brands expanded their physical presence. Food and beverage companies followed, adding to demand as eating-out and lifestyle-led retail formats continued to seek prominent locations.
Department stores also played a meaningful role in the market’s performance during the six-month period. Their contribution suggests that larger-format retailers remained active alongside apparel and dining operators, helping lift overall leasing volumes in Delhi-NCR.
The report also noted conditions in Grade A malls, where vacancy trends remain a key factor for the organized retail market. The latest numbers point to continued interest in quality retail assets, especially in established malls and well-performing high street destinations across Delhi-NCR.
