Nearly one in three registered voters in Gurugram could disappear from the electoral rolls after Haryana's Special Intensive Revision process identified a large number of names as unverified. According to the reported figures, about 4.6 lakh voters, or 29.3% of the city's electorate, may be removed.
The scrutiny reportedly marked these entries under categories such as absent, shifted, deceased, or already registered in another location. The scale of the possible deletions has put the focus on how voter lists are being cleaned up and how many names may ultimately be struck off after verification is completed.
Faridabad also emerged as a major concern in the revision exercise, with a high number of voters said to be unverified. That suggests the issue is not limited to Gurugram alone and could reflect a broader challenge in updating electoral rolls across fast-growing urban areas in Haryana.
The development is significant because electoral rolls are the foundation of the voting process, and any large revision can affect both administration and public confidence.
