Chinese authorities have moved more than 20,000 people to safety in the south of the country as Typhoon Noul approaches the coast. Officials have also suspended some railway services as the storm threatens to bring very heavy rain and strong winds.
According to China’s National Meteorological Center, Typhoon Noul is expected to make landfall between Saturday evening and Sunday morning. The forecast area stretches along the coast from Hong Kong to Guangdong province, putting a densely populated region on alert.
The storm risk has prompted precautionary measures across parts of southern China. Transport disruptions and evacuations underline concerns about possible flooding, dangerous weather conditions and damage from gale-force winds.
Emergency preparations are continuing as the typhoon nears land. Authorities are monitoring the storm’s path closely while residents in affected coastal areas face worsening conditions ahead of the expected landfall.
