Lockheed Martin has introduced a new counter-drone platform called the Morfius X-Rotor, a ground-launched system built to take on multiple aerial threats in a single operation. The company says the platform can neutralize up to 50 enemy drones during one mission, positioning it as a one-to-many response to increasingly complex drone attacks.

A key part of the system is its use of high-power microwave technology. Rather than targeting one drone at a time in a conventional way, the approach is designed to disable groups of hostile drones, making it potentially useful in scenarios where swarms overwhelm traditional defenses.

Lockheed Martin also describes the Morfius X-Rotor as sensor-agnostic. That suggests the system can work with different sensing setups instead of depending on a single fixed detection method, which could make it easier to fit into a wider air-defense network.

The unveiling reflects the growing focus on anti-drone systems as low-cost unmanned aircraft become a larger battlefield concern. By combining ground launch, microwave-based defeat capability and the ability to engage many targets in one mission, the Morfius X-Rotor is aimed at the challenge of modern drone saturation threats.
