Ukraine has reportedly struck Russia's Filanovsky oil platform in the Caspian Sea, in what is being described as the first attack of its kind in that region. The operation marks a notable extension of Kyiv's long-range campaign against Russian energy-related targets.
According to the available report, Ukraine's SBU used drones to hit the offshore facility at least four times. The platform is linked to Lukoil, and the strike was said to halt production from more than 20 wells.
The reported disruption is significant because the Filanovsky site was described as producing about 120,000 barrels per day before the attack. If confirmed, the hit would represent both an economic setback and a sign that Ukrainian operations are reaching farther beyond previously targeted areas.
The attack also stands out because it shifts attention to the Caspian Sea, a zone not previously associated with this phase of Ukraine's strike campaign. That expansion suggests a broader focus on Russian infrastructure tied to energy output as the conflict continues.
