Italy’s defense minister, Guido Crosetto, said he offered Mykhailo Fedorov an adviser job, opening the door to a possible new role for the Ukrainian official after his removal from his previous position. The proposal adds a new twist to the political story surrounding one of Ukraine’s most closely watched defense figures.
According to Crosetto, Fedorov was "moved" by the offer and saw it as a sign of respect and friendship. The Italian minister did not say whether Fedorov had accepted the position, leaving the status of the proposed advisory role unclear.
Crosetto also spoke in strongly positive terms about Fedorov’s record. He highlighted the work Fedorov has been credited with in driving a technology overhaul inside Ukraine’s military, an effort that helped define his reputation even as he reportedly clashed with senior generals.
The development suggests that Crosetto sees value in bringing Fedorov’s experience into Italy’s orbit, especially on defense and military modernization issues. For now, however, the key unanswered question is whether the Ukrainian official will take up the adviser post or leave the offer as a symbolic gesture of support.
