Prediction market company Kalshi has demanded that Netflix remove the trailer for its upcoming documentary “Prediction Games.” The company sent a cease-and-desist letter on Friday, escalating a dispute over how it is presented in the film’s promotional material.

According to the complaint described in the report, Kalshi argues that the trailer is defamatory. The company also claims the preview includes fabricated documents as well as false and misleading statements, making the dispute not just about tone but about the accuracy of what appears on screen.

The clash puts attention on the legal risks around documentary marketing, especially when a trailer highlights allegations or sensitive material tied to a real company. Even before a full documentary is released, a trailer can become the focus of a separate controversy if the subject believes the preview misrepresents key facts.

For now, the immediate issue is Kalshi’s demand that Netflix take down the “Prediction Games” trailer. The disagreement adds another layer of scrutiny to the documentary ahead of its release, with the central question being whether the promotional footage crosses the line from storytelling into alleged defamation.
