Dane Eisenmenger has been selected as The News-Gazette’s 2025-26 area high school Male Athlete of the Year, a recognition that highlights his all-around impact at Unity. The recent graduate was praised for the traits that often define top athletes and team leaders: competitiveness, leadership and a habit of winning.

Eisenmenger’s biggest role came on the football field, where he guided Unity as the Rockets’ quarterback. Unity finished 12-2 and reached the Class 3A state title game before ending the season as runner-up, making his senior-year football campaign a major part of the award.

The honor also reflects what he brought to Unity beyond football. The News-Gazette’s description points to his work on the basketball court as well, underscoring that his value was not limited to one season or one sport. That kind of year-round presence often separates a strong athlete from an area athlete of the year.

Taken together, Eisenmenger’s results, leadership and multi-sport contributions made him a clear standout in the area. For Unity, his final school year left a mark through team success and the steady influence he brought to the Rockets.
