Blue Bottle Coffee Harajuku Cafe, designed by TEKI Design, has been completed in 2026 in Shibuya, Japan. Set in the Harajuku area, the project responds to one of Tokyo’s most changeable urban districts, where retail, culture and street life continue to evolve quickly.
According to the project description, the design aims to keep pace with Harajuku’s shifting landscape and identity. A key idea is the introduction of a new passage, suggesting a layout that does more than house a coffee shop and instead engages with movement through the site.
Another central feature is the creation of a "slice of sky" between surrounding buildings. In a dense part of the city, that gesture points to a design approach focused on openness, light and spatial relief, helping the cafe stand out within the tightly built Harajuku streetscape.
The Blue Bottle Coffee Harajuku Cafe adds a contemporary architectural statement to Shibuya while reflecting the energy of Harajuku. Images of the completed project were photographed by Kenta Hasegawa.
