According to the football finance experts behind the analysis, the top 10 is built from confirmed transfer fees. That approach reshuffles the conversation around the most expensive Premier League signings, as older deals can climb sharply once rising costs over time are taken into account.
Among the standout entries mentioned, Morgan Rogers’ move from Aston Villa to Chelsea is valued at around £117 million in inflation-adjusted terms. Elliot Anderson’s switch from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City is placed just behind at roughly £116 million, with both deals noted as record-breaking British-player transfers under this method.
The ranking highlights how dramatically the transfer market has changed across different eras. Modern blockbuster moves still dominate the upper end, but the inflation-adjusted list also shows why comparing fees from different periods is more complicated than simply reading the original numbers.
