Changxin Technology Group, the Chinese memory chipmaker also known as CXMT, made a blockbuster debut on Shanghai's STAR Market, with its shares rising about 470% on the first day of trading. The sharp jump put the company at the center of attention in China's semiconductor sector.
The Hefei-based company raised 57.92 billion yuan, or about $8.6 billion, in its initial public offering. Its shares were priced at 8.66 yuan each before trading began, and the stock quickly moved far above that level after listing.
The strong opening highlights the level of investor interest in a major domestic memory chip producer at a time when China's chip industry remains a closely watched part of the market. A debut of this size and scale on the STAR Market also reinforces the exchange's role as a key venue for technology and semiconductor listings.
While the full-day trading details were not available in the trimmed report, the roughly 470% surge marks one of the most notable market debuts for a Chinese chip company. For CXMT, the listing delivers a large capital raise and an early sign of strong demand from public investors.
