Kick It Out says it received a record 1,744 reports of discrimination during the 2025/26 season, marking a 25 per cent increase on the previous campaign. The total is the highest disclosed by the anti-discrimination charity.
The season data shows that racism remained the most commonly reported form of discrimination. At the same time, the figures pointed to increases in sexism, transphobia and faith-based abuse, while reports involving misogyny also rose.
The latest numbers suggest that abuse in football is not limited to one issue, with several categories moving upward together. That makes the new Kick It Out figures a significant snapshot of the scale and range of discrimination still being reported across the game.
The report adds to the wider focus on tackling hate and abuse linked to football, including online behaviour. With reports reaching a new high, the latest season data underlines the continuing challenge facing anti-discrimination efforts.
