Metaplanet has launched the first tranche of its Bitbonds offering in Japan, introducing a BTC-linked product with a reported 4% yield. The move adds to the company’s push to build regulated financial products around Bitcoin and bring them to Japanese investors through a more structured format.

According to the report, the Tokyo-listed firm is using the offering to direct investor capital into Bitcoin-backed bonds. That positions Bitbonds as part of a broader effort to connect traditional capital markets with digital assets, rather than relying only on direct crypto purchases.

The launch could become an important test for tokenized finance in Japan. If the product gains traction, it may support wider acceptance of regulated crypto-linked investment tools in one of Asia’s largest financial markets.

The development also points to a larger trend in digital asset finance, where companies are trying to package Bitcoin exposure into familiar investment products. For Metaplanet, the first-tranche Bitbonds offering is a notable step in expanding crypto-backed financial products under Japan’s regulated market framework.
