A student in Karnataka has started a solo campaign against plastic pollution at pilgrimage sites in Koppal. Kumari Sindhu is pushing for stronger action to reduce plastic waste in these high-footfall areas, where disposable items can quickly pile up and damage the local environment.
Her campaign centers on enforcing an existing plastic ban more strictly. She has also called for bags and other plastic items to be collected at entry points, a step aimed at preventing banned materials from entering pilgrimage locations in the first place.
The issue highlights a recurring challenge at religious and tourist destinations, where large visitor numbers often make waste control difficult. By focusing attention on entry-point checks and compliance, the student is trying to turn a general demand for cleaner surroundings into practical measures.
Sindhu has also warned that she could protest if authorities do not respond. Her solo drive has put fresh attention on plastic management in Koppal and on the need for consistent enforcement rather than rules that exist only on paper.
