A study highlighted by ScienceDaily suggests that a relatively small amount of exercise could help people carrying excess fat around the waist. Researchers at the School of Public Health in the LKS Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong found that brisk interval walking done once a week was associated with reduced body fat in adults with central obesity.

The four-month trial involved 315 adults. According to the report, completing 75 minutes of brisk interval walking in a single weekly session was enough to produce benefits, suggesting that a lower time commitment may still lead to meaningful results for this group.

The findings are notable because central obesity is linked to higher health risks, while many adults find it difficult to follow demanding fitness plans. A once-a-week exercise routine may therefore be a more realistic option for people looking for a practical way to address belly fat.

Although the study focused specifically on adults with central obesity, it adds to growing evidence that even limited but consistent physical activity can make a difference. The Hong Kong research points to brisk interval walking as a simple approach that may help reduce body fat over time.
