The Delhi High Court has closed contempt proceedings against SpiceJet promoter and chairman Ajay Singh in a dispute involving aircraft lessor TWC Aviation Capital. The case centered on the return of leased aircraft-related assets, an issue that had brought the airline and the lessor back before the court.
According to the court, there had been substantial compliance in returning the leased aircraft assets. On that basis, the contempt case was brought to an end, giving Ajay Singh relief in this phase of the legal battle.
At the same time, the court did not shut the door on the lessor’s remaining claims. TWC Aviation Capital was allowed to pursue execution proceedings for items that are still said to be outstanding, including certain records and parts linked to the leased aircraft.
The order means the dispute is not fully over, but its focus now shifts away from contempt and toward enforcement of any unresolved obligations. For SpiceJet and TWC Aviation Capital, the next stage is likely to center on whether the remaining documentation and components are delivered in line with the court process.
