Chinese robot maker Unitree Technology is expected to be worth more than 50 billion yuan, or about $7.4 billion, after its planned initial public offering in Shanghai. That estimate comes from a report by Citic Securities, which is sponsoring the listing.

The expected valuation highlights how strongly investors are watching China’s robotics sector. A successful Unitree Shanghai IPO would place the company among the more valuable names in the country’s fast-growing advanced technology market.

According to the available details, Unitree plans to use the proceeds to support innovation and expand production capacity. That suggests the company is preparing to scale both its product development efforts and its manufacturing base as demand for robotics continues to grow.

The planned listing also comes at a time of sharper technology competition between China and the United States. In that environment, high-profile offerings such as Unitree’s are likely to be seen not only as business milestones, but also as signals of China’s push to strengthen domestic tech and industrial capabilities.
