The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to discuss South Sudan at its 10,206th meeting. The session is due to begin at 10 a.m. and will focus on the work of the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan, known as UNMISS.
Anita Kiki Gbeho, the Secretary-General’s Special Representative and head of UNMISS, is expected to brief council members. The meeting places the UN mission’s role in South Sudan at the centre of the council’s agenda.
Separately, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk has concluded a visit to Jordan. During the trip, he met senior officials, representatives of the National Centre for Human Rights and members of civil society.
