IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir visited troops in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday for an operational assessment focused on the military’s ongoing activity and security posture. He was joined by Southern Command chief Maj. Gen. Yaniv Asor and senior commanders, including the commander of the 99th Division, according to the report.
Zamir said the IDF had fundamentally altered the security reality in the area. He also stressed that Israel would continue pursuing terrorists involved in the October 7 massacre, linking the military’s current operations to the goal of preventing a repeat of the attack.
The visit brought senior leadership together with forces operating in Gaza as the army reviewed developments and its continuing mission. Zamir’s remarks presented sustained action against those connected to the attack as a central element of Israel’s security policy.
The assessment comes as Israeli commanders continue coordinating operations in the Gaza Strip under the Southern Command. The IDF chief’s message emphasized both the changes already made on the ground and the pursuit of militants held responsible for October 7.
