Uber has agreed to acquire German food delivery company Delivery Hero in a deal valued at $14.8 billion. The transaction, announced Thursday, marks a major move in the food delivery sector and would bring the Berlin-based company under Uber’s umbrella.
According to the announcement, the voluntary takeover offer values Delivery Hero shares at €41.50 each. The proposed price gives investors a clear benchmark for the deal and signals Uber’s intention to strengthen its position in online food delivery through a large-scale international acquisition.
The companies said the combination would expand Uber’s platform to 99 markets. Together, the businesses would also represent $236 billion in gross bookings, underscoring the size of the merged operation and its reach across multiple regions.
If completed, the acquisition would further broaden Uber’s global delivery footprint while adding one of Europe’s largest food delivery groups to its portfolio. The deal highlights ongoing consolidation in the delivery industry as major platforms seek greater scale and broader market access.
