Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has introduced a dedicated cleanliness patrol for the city’s Heritage Route and Manek Chowk, two busy areas that attract heavy footfall. The move is aimed at improving upkeep in these important public spaces and maintaining cleaner surroundings on a more consistent basis.
As part of the plan, the civic body has deployed five Safai Marshals to monitor cleanliness and support better waste management in the zone. The initiative also includes improved waste disposal arrangements, showing a more focused effort to control littering and strengthen on-ground supervision.
Officials are also expanding door-to-door garbage collection in the area, which can help reduce waste being left in public places. In addition, night cleaning has been introduced to tackle the buildup of trash after peak activity hours, especially in crowded market stretches such as Manek Chowk.
The combined steps suggest a targeted civic push to preserve the look and hygiene of Ahmedabad’s heritage-linked and commercial hotspots. With patrols, collection services and night sanitation working together, the city is trying to keep these prominent locations cleaner and better managed.
