The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) has announced the launch of the E-Commerce Council of India, or ECCI. Introduced on Friday, the new body is positioned as a national platform for the country’s fast-growing digital commerce sector.

According to the announcement, the council is intended to support stronger coordination and shared growth across India’s e-commerce landscape. The move comes as the country’s digital commerce ecosystem is valued at about $120 billion, underlining the scale and importance of the sector.

By creating a dedicated industry platform, IAMAI is aiming to bring together participants in the online commerce space under a common forum. The initiative is expected to help deepen collaboration and support the continued development of India’s e-commerce ecosystem.

The launch of ECCI reflects the growing maturity of digital commerce in India and the need for industry-wide engagement as the market expands. With online retail continuing to play a larger role in the economy, the new council marks another step in organizing the sector around shared priorities and long-term growth.
