According to the report, retatrutide delivered significant weight loss in testing. It also improved a key measure of blood sugar levels, suggesting the treatment may have benefits beyond weight reduction for some patients being studied.
The delay in the FDA filing means the drug will take longer to reach the regulatory review stage than previously expected. Even so, the new timeline does not appear to change the broader picture that Eli Lilly is continuing to advance retatrutide after encouraging late-stage data.
