Gujarat has emerged as the top-ranked state in the latest Investment Friendliness Index released by Niti Aayog, with the report highlighting its strength across infrastructure, business climate and financial health. The assessment placed Gujarat first overall on the back of strong economic fundamentals, prudent fiscal management and a governance framework seen as supportive of business activity.

The report also identified Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Goa and Odisha as other top performers. Together, these states were recognised for creating conditions that support investment, improve the ease of doing business and strengthen the broader economic environment.

Gujarat’s leading position reflects a combination of solid state finances and policies that encourage enterprise and industrial activity. The findings suggest that states with stable fiscal systems and investor-friendly administration are better placed to attract capital and sustain growth over time.

The ranking adds to the policy discussion around how Indian states compete to draw investment and improve development outcomes. By comparing business readiness and economic management, the index offers a snapshot of which states are currently setting the pace in creating a favourable investment climate.
