Air India plans to bring back most of the domestic and international flying capacity it had temporarily suspended, with the restoration expected to begin from September. The move follows a network rationalisation exercise carried out during June, July and August.
The Tata Group-backed carrier indicated that the bulk of the affected services should return as it resets its schedule after the recent adjustments. The update suggests the airline is aiming to stabilise operations and rebuild parts of its network that were put on hold.
However, not every route is expected to resume immediately. Services to Chicago and Washington are set to remain suspended for longer, with aircraft shortages continuing to affect those operations.
The latest plan signals a broader recovery in Air India’s schedule after the temporary cutbacks, even as fleet constraints still limit the return of some international flights. The staggered restoration also highlights how aircraft availability remains a key factor in route planning.
