Maruti Suzuki is accelerating its push in the sport utility vehicle segment as it works toward becoming India’s largest SUV maker. The company is leaning on a wider utility vehicle portfolio and a refreshed market position to strengthen its standing in one of the country’s most competitive auto categories.
The strategy reflects how important SUVs and utility vehicles have become for growth in the Indian passenger vehicle market. By adding more offerings and sharpening how the brand is presented to buyers, Maruti Suzuki is aiming to capture a larger share of demand and close the gap with leading rivals in the segment.
Strong consumer interest is also keeping the company’s factories under heavy pressure. With plants operating at more than 100 percent utilization, Maruti Suzuki is dealing with high demand even as it tries to support future expansion through new products and a stronger SUV focus.
Alongside its product push, the automaker is targeting healthy double-digit growth. The broader plan suggests Maruti Suzuki sees SUVs not just as an added revenue stream, but as the central route to defending market leadership and improving its position in India’s fast-growing utility vehicle space.
