Indian boxers Preeti Pawar and Jadumani Singh have advanced to the quarterfinals at the Commonwealth Games, putting themselves just one victory away from a medal.
Preeti, an Asian Games bronze medallist, impressed in the women's 54kg division with a commanding performance to move through. Her progress keeps India in strong contention in the boxing competition.
Jadumani also sealed his place in the last eight after overcoming a Pakistani rival in the men's draw. The result adds to India's encouraging run in the ring and gives him a clear shot at a podium finish.
With both boxers now in the quarterfinal stage, the medal stakes rise sharply. Another win for either Preeti Pawar or Jadumani Singh would guarantee at least a medal and further strengthen India's campaign in Commonwealth Games boxing.
