Indian stocks are set for a positive start, with GIFT Nifty indicating a firmer opening for Dalal Street. Even so, the near-term market setup remains fragile after benchmark indices extended their losing streak and the Nifty 50 closed below the key 23,800 level.
The latest weakness marks a fifth straight session of declines for the Nifty, reinforcing the cautious tone in the market. Analysts say the immediate bias is still negative, as the index has slipped under an important support zone and broader sentiment appears unsettled.
According to the levels being tracked closely, a move below 23,600 could raise the risk of a sharper correction. The concern is that if selling intensifies under that mark, investors may turn more defensive, increasing downside pressure on the index.
On the upside, 24,000 is being seen as the crucial level to watch. Analysts view it as a line of polarity, meaning the Nifty may need to reclaim and hold above that mark before the broader trend can show meaningful improvement. Until then, a firm opening may offer relief, but the market structure remains under pressure.
