Malar Group, led by Sayan Navaratnam, has acquired Freeda, a social-first media brand known in Europe for content aimed at women. The deal gives Malar Group worldwide ownership of the Freeda brand, marking a notable move in the digital media and brand revival space.

According to the announcement, the acquisition also includes Freeda’s Italian and Spanish social platforms. Those channels were central to the brand’s growth and helped it build a sizable audience across key European markets.

Malar Group said it plans to relaunch Freeda, a brand that previously reached a community of more than 11 million people at its peak. That history gives the company an established name and audience base to work with as it looks to reposition the business.

The transaction highlights continued interest in social-first media brands with recognizable audiences and clear identity. For Malar Group, the Freeda acquisition adds an established women-focused media name with international potential and a foundation in Italy and Spain.
