India’s cotton acreage has moved past 100 lakh hectares as monsoon activity strengthens across major producing regions. Planting has accelerated in recent days, pointing to a broader expansion in cotton area during the current sowing season.
According to industry inputs cited in the report, cotton sowing is now taking place on roughly 50,000 hectares a day. The faster pace has come as rains improve field conditions in important cotton-growing states, allowing farmers to continue planting more steadily.
Among the states highlighted for stronger coverage are Telangana, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh has recorded a 31% rise in cotton area, while Telangana has seen an increase of 4%, said Atul Ganatra. These changes suggest that some key regions are contributing significantly to the overall jump in national acreage.
The latest numbers indicate that the monsoon is playing a central role in pushing cotton sowing forward in India. With planting still underway and weather conditions being closely watched, the crop area trend remains an important signal for the cotton market and the wider farm sector.
