Apple is expanding how customers can get its devices in the U.S. through a new partnership with Klarna. The companies are introducing a leasing option that allows users to get a new Apple product without making a traditional full purchase upfront.
The program, called Apple Upgrade, applies to several major product lines. According to the announcement, customers can lease an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch through Klarna, the buy now, pay later provider working with Apple on the offer.
At the end of the lease, users will have more than one path forward. They can return the device, move to an upgraded model or choose to buy the product they have been using. That structure gives customers more flexibility than a standard one-time purchase.
The move highlights Apple’s continued interest in offering alternative payment and ownership models for its hardware, while giving Klarna a larger role in consumer electronics financing. For shoppers comparing ways to get the latest Apple devices, the new U.S. leasing program adds another option alongside outright buying.
