IndiGo will discontinue its Chennai-Reunion service from October 22, ending a direct international link between the Tamil Nadu capital and the Indian Ocean island. The move means Chennai is set to lose another overseas connection as the airline reshapes its route network.
The carrier said the decision followed a strategic assessment of its network priorities in response to evolving market conditions. IndiGo had started flights to Reunion on April 30 and was operating the route three times a week.
The suspension highlights how airlines continue to adjust international services based on demand, network performance and broader commercial considerations. For passengers, the change will remove a relatively new nonstop option from Chennai's international schedule.
While IndiGo has not indicated that the route will continue beyond October, the latest update shows the airline is focusing on routes that better fit its current operating strategy. The Chennai-Reunion service will therefore come to an end less than six months after it was launched.
