Jordan Rochester, the financial commentator known to many as “Mr. Brexit,” is leaving Mizuho for a position in Dubai. The move marks a relatively short stint at the bank after he joined in 2024.

Rochester arrived at Mizuho as part of the lender’s effort to expand its currencies and rates business across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. His hire was seen as part of a broader push to strengthen the bank’s presence in those markets.

His departure comes as banks continue to compete for experienced market voices and strategists in major financial hubs. Dubai has become an increasingly important base for firms and professionals focused on regional and international markets.

While details of the new role were not provided, the change underscores the continuing reshuffle of talent across global banking and market commentary roles. For Mizuho, it also comes against the backdrop of its wider growth plans in the EMEA currencies and rates business.
