Premium Scotch whisky prices in Rajasthan are expected to ease after an import duty reduction under the India-UK trade pact. The change applies to UK whisky and gin, with the duty set to fall from 150% to 75% starting July 15.
Based on the announced structure, premium Scotch labels in the state could become 20% to 25% cheaper. The move is likely to affect the pricing of imported spirits, especially in the higher-end segment where duties play a major role in retail costs.
The tariff cut is part of the India-UK CETA framework and signals a meaningful shift for buyers, importers and sellers of British liquor in India. A lower duty burden could make UK spirits more competitive in the market and potentially widen consumer access to premium brands.
While the biggest impact is expected in imported Scotch and gin, actual shelf prices may still depend on local taxes and distribution margins. Even so, the duty reduction points to a notable price reset for premium British spirits in Rajasthan.
