Bank of America said it plans to acquire MDSec Consulting Limited, a United Kingdom-based information security consultancy. The move adds a specialist cybersecurity company to the bank’s broader operations as financial firms continue to invest in digital defense and risk management.

According to the announcement, the acquisition is expected to bring about 65 cybersecurity professionals into Bank of America’s UK operations. That would expand the bank’s security talent base in an area that remains critical for protecting systems, data and financial services infrastructure.

MDSec is known as an information security consultancy, and the deal points to Bank of America’s interest in strengthening internal expertise through acquisition rather than relying only on outside support. Bringing in an established team can help large organizations deepen technical capabilities and respond more quickly to evolving cyber threats.

Bank of America said the transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter. The announcement highlights how major banks are continuing to build cybersecurity capacity, especially in key markets such as the UK.
