Hotel industry groups in Maharashtra have called for a consultative approach as the state Food and Drug Administration continues its food safety drive against establishments. In a joint statement, three hotel associations said they support stricter food safety enforcement but want regulators to follow due process while handling violations.
The industry bodies said stronger checks are necessary to protect consumers and maintain standards across the hospitality sector. At the same time, they urged the Maharashtra FDA to focus first on identifying gaps and helping businesses fix them, instead of moving immediately to punitive action.
The request reflects a broader effort by hospitality operators to balance compliance with practical implementation on the ground. Industry representatives appear to be asking for enforcement that is firm but also structured, with clear procedures and an opportunity for establishments to correct shortcomings.
The discussion comes as authorities continue inspecting hotels and other food-related businesses for possible violations under food safety rules. For the hotel industry, the message is that food safety must remain a priority, but enforcement should be transparent, proportionate and aimed at long-term compliance.
