Bosch Home Comfort Group plans to begin exporting air conditioners from India within the next two years, according to CEO and President Jan Brockmann. The move signals a bigger role for India in the company’s global manufacturing network as demand rises in multiple markets, including Europe.

The company is also investing about $80 million to expand manufacturing capacity in India. That investment is aimed at scaling up local production significantly and preparing the business for both domestic sales and overseas shipments.

India appears to be an important base for Bosch Home Comfort because of its strategic location and relatively stable geopolitical relationships. Those factors can make the country more attractive as a production and export hub, especially for companies looking to serve several regions from one market.

The export plan comes at a time when Europe is facing a strong summer season, which can lift demand for cooling products. By building more capacity in India and targeting exports within two years, Bosch Home Comfort is positioning the country as a key part of its longer-term air-conditioner growth strategy.
