Taisho Pharmaceutical has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Kaigene for KG006 in Japan. Under the deal, Taisho will hold the rights to clinically develop, register, and commercialize the drug candidate in the Japanese market.
KG006 is described as Kaigene’s next-generation FcRn inhibitor, a class of therapies being developed for autoimmune diseases. The agreement gives Taisho responsibility for advancing the asset locally, positioning the company to expand its pipeline in immune-related treatments.
Kaigene said it will receive a $5 million upfront payment as part of the transaction. The company is also eligible for additional development, regulatory, and commercial milestone payments, according to the announcement.
The licensing pact highlights continued interest in FcRn-targeting therapies as drugmakers look for new options in autoimmune care. For Taisho, the deal adds a late-stage strategic opportunity in Japan, while Kaigene gains a local partner to move KG006 through development and potential commercialization.
