India has exported 7 metric tonnes of Bihar's makhana, also known as fox nuts, to Canada, according to the Commerce Ministry. The consignment was packed in two containers and shipped by sea through Mundra Port to ZKV Foods in Canada.
The shipment puts a spotlight on Bihar's well-known makhana, a product that has strong recognition in domestic and overseas markets. Moving the consignment through the sea route reflects an organized export channel for the specialty crop.
The ministry said the export is a notable step in promoting the product beyond India. It also points to growing opportunities for traditional agricultural goods from Bihar in international trade.
With this latest dispatch, Indian exporters are adding to the global presence of Bihar's makhana. The Canada shipment underlines continuing efforts to expand market access for region-specific food products.
