SK Hynix shares jumped roughly 30% in South Korea as buying returned to artificial-intelligence-linked stocks and helped lift the KOSPI index. The move stood out as one of the strongest signs of renewed investor appetite for AI chip names in the local market.

The concern is that such a fast rise can also increase the risk of sharper swings later. When traders rush back into one popular theme, price action can become more unstable, especially if momentum rather than fundamentals is driving much of the move.

Another caution flag is that the strength seen in Seoul did not appear to carry over to the U.S. market. That gap suggests global sentiment around chip stocks may still be uneven, even as South Korean investors pushed SK Hynix higher.

For investors, the rally highlights both sides of the AI trade. SK Hynix remains closely tied to enthusiasm around AI-related semiconductor demand, but a sudden surge of this size can leave the stock and the broader KOSPI more exposed to volatility if market confidence cools again.
