Michael Saylor says the rapid surge in artificial intelligence spending is creating a near-term challenge for Bitcoin. In his view, large capital commitments tied to AI infrastructure are competing directly with crypto for investor attention and funding.
He pointed specifically to major companies such as SpaceX, Google and Meta, arguing that their AI build-out is absorbing huge amounts of capital. According to Saylor, this wave of spending is large enough to act as the biggest of several headwinds currently weighing on Bitcoin.
The core of his argument is that investors only have so much money to allocate, and a massive push into data centers and related AI projects can pull funds away from digital assets. He described the AI expansion as a trillion-dollar-scale trend, suggesting that the market is temporarily prioritizing AI growth over Bitcoin exposure.
Saylor’s comments frame the pressure on Bitcoin as a competition for capital rather than a change in the asset’s long-term case. His outlook suggests that while AI investment is dominating the current cycle, the effect on Bitcoin may be more of a temporary drag than a permanent shift.
