Ohio has reported more than 4,000 cases of cyclosporiasis, pushing the state’s total sharply higher in the latest update from the Ohio Department of Health. The illness is linked to the cyclospora parasite, and the newest numbers show the outbreak continuing to expand.
The latest Ohio update represents a 55% jump in reported cases, a significant increase from the previous report. Health data also shows that 11 counties in the state have now moved into triple digits, meaning each has recorded more than 100 cases.
The rise in Ohio is part of a broader national outbreak that has spread to 45 states. That wider reach highlights how extensive the current wave of cyclosporiasis has become, even as state and local health officials continue tracking case counts.
