The Perth Mint in Western Australia has unveiled what is now recognised as the world’s largest gold bar. Weighing 521.2 kilograms, the massive piece has secured the Guinness World Records title for the category.
According to the details released, the bar was refined to 99.999 per cent purity. That level of refinement, combined with its size, makes the bar a standout display of gold processing and minting capability.
The record-setting bar weighs more than half a tonne, underscoring the scale of the achievement at the WA-based mint. Its official recognition by Guinness World Records gives the project global attention beyond Australia’s gold industry.
The unveiling adds a new milestone for the Perth Mint, which is closely linked with precious metals refining in Western Australia. With its extraordinary weight and near-perfect purity, the giant gold bar now holds a place in the record books.
