India’s Unified Payments Interface, or UPI, set a new record in July, with transaction value reaching ₹29.9 lakh crore. The latest figures also showed transaction volume climbing to 23.66 billion, underscoring the scale of digital payments adoption across the country.
According to data released by the National Payments Corporation of India, the July total marked another milestone for the payments network. The value of transactions was up 19% from a year earlier, pointing to continued expansion in both consumer and merchant use of UPI.
The record performance reinforces UPI’s central role in India’s digital payment ecosystem. Its broad usage for everyday transfers and payments has helped it become one of the most important financial rails in the country.
With both value and volume moving higher, the July numbers highlight the strong momentum behind India’s shift toward fast, app-based payments. The latest NPCI data suggests that UPI continues to deepen its reach as a preferred payment method at scale.
