The FDA’s Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee ended its July 23-24 meeting with narrow votes supporting six of the seven peptides under review for the 503A Bulks List. The substances recommended were BPC-157, KPV, TB-500, MOTS-c, Semax, and epitalon.
The decision is notable because the 503A Bulks List helps determine which bulk drug substances may be used by certain compounding pharmacies. That makes the committee’s recommendations important for pharmacists, clinicians, and others tracking how peptide products may fit into the FDA’s compounding framework.
The close vote margins suggest the panel’s discussion was far from settled. While six peptides received support, the fact that one of the seven substances reviewed did not underscores the case-by-case scrutiny being applied during the FDA advisory process.
The committee’s action does not by itself finalize policy, but it gives the FDA updated advice on whether these peptides should be included on the 503A Bulks List. For now, the outcome marks a significant step in the agency’s ongoing review of compounded peptide substances.
